Martin Lang

is Associate Professor at the department of Ancient History and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Innsbruck

Martin Lang, born 1971 in Innsbruck, studied Theology and Ancient Oriental Studies in Innsbruck. After receiving his doctorate in Old Testament Studies in 2003, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Historical Theology at the Faculty of Theology in Innsbruck, then moved to the Faculty of Philosophy and History, where he completed his habilitation in Ancient Oriental Studies in 2016 with the thesis "The Cuneiform Flood Tradition: A History of Tradition and Literature". Research topics: Interfaces between cuneiform tradition and the Old Testament, literary history, ritual studies.
