Monica Huțanu
is Assistant Professor at the Romanian Studies department at the West University of Timișoara (Romania)
Monica Huțanu (1978) graduated from the West University of Timișoara in 2001, where she studied Romanian and English language and literature. She completed her PhD at the same university, with a thesis on the place and importance of the etymological orthographic principle in the writing of Romanian, which she defended in 2009. Starting in 2002, she worked at the West University of Timișoara, Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, Department of Romanian Studies. Since 2012, she has been a lecturer in Romanian language (appointed by the Institute of Romanian Language within the Romanian Ministry of National Education) at the University of Belgrade, where she teaches Romanian as a foreign language. Her areas of interest and research include writing systems, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, second language acquisition.
