Monica Genesin
is Professor of Albanian Language and Culture at the Salento University Lecce
Monica Genesin studied Romance and Historical Linguistics, Albanian and Balkan Languages in Padova, the University of Calabria, Tirana and Munich. She holds a Ph.D. in Albanian Studies (1994). In 1994-1995 she was a Humboldt Fellow at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich. From 2001 to 2016 she was a researcher in Albanian language and culture at the University of Salento, and since 2016 she has been Professor of Albanian Studies at the University of Salento. Since 2004 member of the Italian section of the Association Internationale d'Études du Sud-Est Européen, and since 2014 member of the Balkanologisches Verband (University of Jena). Her research focuses on Albanian language and culture, Albanian diaspora, Balkan linguistics, Balkan linguistic landscape.
