Sylva Dobalová
is Researcher at the Institute of Art History, Czech Academy of Sciences
Sylva Dobalová was born in 1973 in Prague. She studied art history at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and the history of architecture and monument conservation at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Since 2004 she has worked as a researcher at the department of Early Modern Art at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences. She is the head of the ‘Studia Rudolphina’, Research Centre for Visual Arts and Culture in the Age of Rudolf II at this institute. In 2017–2018 she cooperated with Schloss Ambras Innsbruck and the National Gallery in Prague on the organisation of international exhibitions about Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria with. Her main areas of research are the art patronage of the Habsburgs, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries, and she also publishes on the architecture of historic gardens.
