Hugo David

is lecturer in Philosophy and Indian Studies in the Pondicherry Centre of the École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO)

Hugo David, born in 1979 in Epinal (France), studied Psychology and Philosophy at the Universities of Nancy and Paris-Sorbonne, and specialized in Sanskrit and Indian Philosophy at the École pratique des hautes études (Paris), where he received his PhD in 2012, while he was teaching Philosophy in French secondary schools as a "Professeur agrégé". A Newton International Fellow at the University of Cambridge in 2013–2014, he was invited to join the École française d'Extrême-Orient in 2015, after a brief stint at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He is now since then working as a lecturer and researcher in the Pondicherry Centre ("Centre d'Indologie") of the EFEO in India.
