Jens Erland Braarvig
is Professor Emeritus at the University of Oslo and Director of the Norwegian Institute of Philology
Jens Braarvig, born 1948 in Oslo, Dr. Phil. at Oslo University 1989, is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Oslo and now the Director of the Norwegian Institute of Philology. His field of research is Buddhist history and philology with focus on Mahāyāna Sūtras. He also works on historical multilingualism and comparative philology in general. Professor Braarvig is the President of World Philology Union.
