Siegfried Beer

is Professor emeritus of Late Modern History (Graz); chairman of the Botstiber Institute of Austrian-American Studies (Media, PA)

Siegfried Beer (b. 1948) taught late modern and contemporary history at the University of Graz, Austria from 1978 to 2013. His main research areas were and remain international politics; Anglo-American cultures since 1776; Austria in the 20th century and the role of intelligence since 1900. He held guest professorships at Minnesota (1992), Harvard (1996/7) and Columbia (2007) Universities. From 2004 to 2018 he directed the Austrian Center for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (ACIPSS) and served as publisher of the Journal for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (JIPSS). He still chairs the Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) at Media, PA, USA.
