Die Wiener Hofburg seit 1918

Even after it ceased to function as the Imperial residence, the Wiener Hofburg, its buildings, courtyards and parks continued to be the site of the political and cultural caesura of this country. This volume deals with the history of the building, its use and the culture of the former Imperial residence, which has now been the theatre for a century of republican history as well as episodes of totalitarian history, and which, thanks to the founding of a cultural centre in the former court stables, is fast becoming a major arts centre for Austria in the 21st century.
