Bettina Bader
is Head of the research group Material Culture in Egypt and Nubia of the Austrian Archaeological Institute, ÖAW
After completing the doctorate in Egyptology at the University of Vienna, Bettina Bader collaborated in several post-doc projects including a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research (Univ. of Cambridge, UK). With an Elise Richter Fellowship by the Austrian Science Fund on "The Archaeology of culture contact in an Egyptian Settlement" she worked at the Univ. of Vienna. Since 2015 she is principal investigator of the START project Material Culture in Second Intermediate Period Egypt and Nubia at the Institute for Oriental and European Archaeology at the Academy of Sciences. Research interests: archaeology and material culture in Egypt and Nubia, contextual studies. Longstanding collaboration with international excavation teams in Egypt includes Tell el-Daba, Memphis, Lisht, Dahshur, Ehnasya el-Medina, Dayr el-Bersha, Luxor, Aswan.
