The present volume includes all the findings from an excavated well located at the State Market in Ephesus. The deposits can be divided into five main and several minor layers. The dating, which is based on coins and fine ceramics, in particular the Italian sigillata, range from the late 1st century BC until the end of the 1st century AD (layers AD). It was then (perhaps around 120 AD) that the well was closed and not used as a dump again until the 6th century AD (layer E). This volume is a valuable supplement to the previously published studies by V. Mitsopoulos-Leon (FiE IX/2) and V. Gassner (FiE XIII/1/1), which focused on Hellenistic deposits.
