Sammlung Woldan

Sammlung Woldan
Bestandskatalog. Abteilung A: Cartographica, Teil I: Gesamte Erde und Aussereuropa
1. Auflage, 1995
With the "Woldan collection" the Austrian Academy of Sciences possesses one of the most important Central European special libraries of cartographical works, topographical views, books on voyages and travels, and other "geographical" publications from the time of the late 15th to the 19th century. The first part of the catalogue of this collection includes maps and atlases representing the world and the non-European continents and oceans (Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Oceania, polar regions), and the terrestrial and celestial globes. Among the more than 530 items there are not only several 'rara' and 'rarissima' but also a few prints which seem - according to the present state of research - to be unique (e.g. the famous "Wieder-Woldan map").
