Vespidae:
Currently 97 species of Vespidae (represented by four subfamilies) are known from Austria. One of these species occurs in two subspecies. Several species have a restricted distribution, they are found e.g. only in the eastern and/or southeastern part of the country. Few species were recorded in the high alps of Tyrol only. Two species of the genus Ancistrocerus have been separated in recent years, their occurence in the different regions is not assured.
