This is a fundamentally new in-depth analysis of the finances of the Roman state in the years 49 to 42 B.C. It not only assembles all the ancient literary evidence for financial affairs in this period, but also analyses the contemporary coinages in minute detail, concentrating on problems of dating and localisation.
