Christiane Wendehorst
is President of the Humanities and Social Sciences Division of the Austrian Academy of Sciences
Christiane Wendehorst studied law and obtained her academic degrees (LL.M., Dr. iur., Dr. iur. habil.) in Munich and Cambridge. After holding full professorships in Greifswald and Göttingen, she moved to Vienna in 2008. She is currently Professor of Civil Law at the University of Vienna, Co-Head of the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law and Scientific Director of the European Law Institute (ELI). She is an elected Member, amongst others, of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Academia Europaea, the International Academy for Comparative Law and the American Law Institute. Her current research focuses on the legal challenges of digitalisation, and she is regularly asked as an expert to advise EU institutions, international organsations and national governments on matters relating to law and regulation in the digital economy.
