Annemarie Sorescu-Marinković
is Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade
Annemarie Sorescu-Marinković (1978) studied Romanian and English language and literature at the West University in Timișoara. In 2010, she defended her PhD thesis at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, on the anthropology of folklore of the Vlachs of Eastern Serbia. After working for a year as a teaching assistant at the Department for Romanian Language at the Philology Faculty of the University of Belgrade, in 2006 she started working at the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, where she has conducted extensive field research in the Romance-speaking communities in Serbia and the Balkans. Today she is the coordinator of the sociolinguistics department of the Institute. Her areas of interest and research include sociolinguistics, language planning and ideology, language endangerment and revitalization.
