Kai Ruffing

is Professor of Ancient History at the University of Kassel

Kai Ruffing, born in 1967, received a university degree in History and Latin philology at the Westfälische Wilhelms University of Münster, and a doctorate in Ancient History, Modern and Contemporary History, and Latin philology. From 2000–2013 he was research assistant and academic counsel at the Philipps University of Marburg. He habilitated in 2005 with a thesis titled „The occupational specialisation in trade and crafts“. Since 2013 he is Professor of Ancient History at the University of Kassel. Research focuses: Economic and Social History of the Ancient World, historiography, East-West contacts in antiquity, History of Reception and Science.
