Florian Riedler
is a Research Fellow at the Chair of Eastern and Southeastern European History at the University of Leipzig
Florian Riedler studied history and obtained a PhD from SOAS, London, for a thesis on Ottoman political history. Among others, he was a research fellow at the German Orient Institute in Istanbul, at ZMO in Berlin and the scientific coordinator of the research network Transottomanica at the University of Leipzig. His research interests include Ottoman urban history, migration and mobility studies and the history of infrastructure in the Ottoman Balkans. Currently he is conducting the DFG-funded reasearch project “Belgrade and Zemun as a Historical Mobility Space between Two Empires, 1739–1878” at the University of Leipzig.
