Ermanno Orlando
is Associate professor of Medieval History at the University for Foreigners of Siena
Ermanno Orlando received his undergraduate Degree in History at the University of Venice and his Ph.D. in Historical and Anthropological Sciences at the University of Verona. His research focuses on the history of Venice in the Late Middle Ages, the social and cultural history of the Mediterranean World and the history of mobility and trade. In particular, his main fields of research are: the institutional and jurisdictional relationships between Venice and its maritime state, with a focus on the Adriatic area and the Western Balkans; the history of marriage and family, with reference to the Veneto and the Venetian area; the migration movements towards Venice, with a particular attention to the processes of integration, inclusion and/or exclusion of migrants into the host society.
