Michael Falser
is an Architectural Historian at the Chair of Theory and History of Architecture, Art and Design (Department of Engineering and Design), Technical University of Munich/Germany
Michael Falser, born 1973, studied architecture and art history in Vienna and Paris. After his PhD in architectural history at the TU Berlin, he worked as historic preservation architect and as assistant professor at ETH Zurich and LMU Munich. After his work as project leader and his “Habilitation” (professorial qualification script, 2014) at the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context. The Dynamics of Transculturality” at Heidelberg University, visiting professorships in Japan, France, Austria and Germany, he is, since 2020, Heisenberg-fellow of the German Research Foundation (DFG) at Technical University Munich, with a research project about German-colonial architecture. His last monograph “Angkor Wat. A Transcultural History of Heritage” was published in 2020 by DeGruyter/Berlin. His research foci are: Global Architectural/Art History and Cultural Heritage Studies.
