Calum Blaikie
is a Researcher at the Institute for Social Anthropology (ISA) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW)
He holds an MSc in International Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Kent. Working at the interface of medical, economic and environmental anthropology, his research mainly concerns Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan medicine) in Himalayan India and Nepal. Recent journal and book publications focus on the artisanal production of Tibetan medicines, the integration of Sowa Rigpa into Indian state structures, the industrialisation of Asian traditional medicine, and the contemporary dynamics of Himalayan building craft traditions.
