Jörg Becker

is Associated Professor for Near Eastern Archaeology at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg

Jörg Becker, born 1963 at Frankfurt. After study and PhD of Near Eastern Archaeology he was between 2002 and 2008 assistant at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. 2013 followed the habilitation about the Late Neolithic Halaf period (“Tell Tawila, Tell Halaf und Wadi Hamar – Regionale Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede”). Active as assistant professor at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. Main research interests: Prehistory of Mesopotamia, cultural and social developments, as well as symbolism. Incorporated in field works and final publications of archaeological sites in southeastern Turkey, northern Syria and western Iran.
