Make Use of Your ORCID
ORCID

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a free, unique, persistent identifier (PID) for all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation to be uniquely identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time.

This identifier can be generated by authors at https://orcid.org and then referenced in all works. At https://orcid.org, a publication directory with all your publications - whether monographs, journal articles, pictorial works, etc. - will then be created successively and automatically. The ORCID identifier is processed together with the Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The FWF has requested the use of the ORCID in funded projects since 2016.

Sometimes, university administrations have issues with acknowledging publications if authorship of an article is not linked through to the ORCID profile of the author and as a result this might lead to problems with research assessment. Therefore, registration and use of an ORCID is highly recommended.
