Kei Kataoka
is Associate Professor of Indian philosophy at Kyushu University
Kei Kataoka, born in Hong Kong, studied Indian philosophy in Tokyo, Tirupati, and Oxford. After receiving his PhD in 2001 (University of Tokyo) on the basis of his dissertation consisting of a textual and historical study of Mīmāṃsā, he worked as Assistant at the Institute of Oriental Culture, University of Tokyo, from 2001 to 2004. He was employed as Research Associate at the IKGA of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 2004. Since 2005 he has been Associate Professor of Indian philosophy at Kyushu Univeristy, Fukuoka, Japan. The results of his research in Vienna were published in 2011 as a monograph titled „Kumārila on Truth, Omniscience, and Killing“ (Austrian Academy of Sciences Press).
