Hubert Feiglstorfer

Hubert Feiglstorfer
is Researcher at the Institute for Social Anthropology at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna
Hubert Feiglstorfer studied architecture at TU Wien, where he received his doctorate in architectural history in 2011, followed by his doctorate in clay mineralogy at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) in 2017. In 2020 he habilitated in the field of "Vernacular Architecture" at TU Wien. His research focuses on building and craft traditions. His last book "Mineral Building Traditions in the Himalayas" (2019) gives insight into material cultural aspects of clay and the interaction between building traditions, technical requirements, environmental resources and material implementation. His teachings at TU Wien and BOKU cover the fields of vernacular, earthen and sustainable architecture, and conservation of architectural heritage.
