Vincent Eltschinger (1970) earned his PhD degree from the University of Lausanne (2003) before spending twelve years as a research fellow at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. His research focuses on the religious background, apologetic dimensions and genealogy of Buddhist philosophy. His numerous publications are dedicated mainly to the Buddhists' polemics against Brahmanism from Aśvaghoṣa to late Buddhist epistemologists. He is one of the editors of Brill's Encyclopedia of Buddhism.
