Klimaentwicklung im Riss/Würm Interglazial (Eem) und Frühwürm (Sauerstoffisotopenstufe 6-3) in den Ostalpen
1. Auflage, 2001
The “IGBP Global Change in the Past Project” of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is intended inter alia to record the changes in both the geosphere and the biosphere in the eastern alps resulting from cyclic climatic variations in the ice age. It was an obvious solution, as a model for future developments following the Holocene, to examine the transition from the last interglacial to the Würm and the significant climate fluctuations in the early Würm. The investigations of the position conditions, the sedimentology of the fossil content (pollen distribution, large residues) and the palaeomagnetic phenomena carried out according to today’s state of knowledge was only possible by means of artificial exposure. This exposure was effected on the one hand by means of extensive excavations (Nieselach) and on the other hand by means of three drillings (Mondsee) which were necessary here for the complete exposure of the delta complex.
