Claudia Rapp
is Professor of Byzantine Studies, University of Vienna, and interim Director, Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences
Claudia Rapp has been Professor of Byzantine Studies, University of Vienna since 2011. She obtained her Ph.D. in Oxford, followed by professorships at Cornell University and UCLA. She is the interim Director of the Institute for Medieval Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Her research and publications focus on social and cultural history, often from the angle of religious history and manuscript studies. She has initiated the Euchologia Project at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Funding through the Wittgenstein-Award has enabled her to assemble a team of scholars for the joint investigation of Mobility, Microstructures and Personal Agency. The current volume is the result of her work as the Scholarly Director of the Sinai Palimpsests Project.
