In its main part the book deals with the Iter Anasianum of Gaspar Brusch (1518-1557), a hodoeporicon (poetic relation of a voyage) about a small trip to some villages in the area of Linz, in May 1552, which is presented here with translation and commentary for the first time. Concerning the two different versions of the poem, the relations between them are discussed by comparing them with similar poems of the same author, which allows them to be fitted into the poet´s biography. Therefor, in the first chapter one may find an attempt to describe the turbulent last years of Brusch, not thoroughly elucidated by scholarship up to now, and especially his relationship to the so-called ´Magdeburger Zenturiatoren´ and to Albrecht Alcibiades of Brandenburg. more...
