Der römische Limes in Österreich is a guidebook to those monuments of the Roman limes and its hinterland in the area today covered by Austria which are still visible. It is intended to provide an introduction to life at and the development of the Roman frontier on the Danube for the reader with a broad interest in Archaeology and Austrian history. In addition the authors sum up the current studies providing a basis for future research on the Austrian limes. The first part of the guide-book consists of various articles on the history, development, topography, architecture, and culture of the Roman limes, while the second part gives a catalogue of all places where visitors can obtain an insight into Roman life from monuments or museums. The text is supplemented by a map of the limes region in which finding-places, monuments and museums are marked as well as by numerous ground plans, photographs and figures. At the end there is a catalogue of all museums and archaeological parks in the Danube area.
