Produktbeschreibung

The manuscripts in the library of the premonstratensian Monastery in Wilten / Innsbruck were until now inadequately catalogued. Consequently, work on a scholarly catalogue was begun under the auspices of the Commission for Paleography and Codicology of Medieval Manuscripts of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. This work was financed by the monastery, together with funds provided by the State of Tyrol. The catalogue includes descriptions of the 27 medieval manuscripts in the library's original collection, as well as its later acquisitions. The original collection contains manuscripts that remained in the monastery despite its temporary secularization in 1808, when other works were moved to the University of Tyrol and the Regional Library in Innsbruck. The later manuscripts are those acquired in the 19th century by Abbot Alois Roggl, mainly from the Fieger Library of Hall. The manuscripts in the collection are mainly theological texts, especially liturgical works for convent and school use. Particularly noteworthy is a 13 th -century manuscript on Premonstratensian constitutions. Most of the manuscripts are in Latin; only one is entirely in German. Two indices (an index of incipits and an index of authors, titles and subjects), several illustrations and appendices, and a CD with reproductions of selected illuminations and script samples of dated and undated manuscripts augment the catalogue and make it easier to use.
